WINTER BURKE

Winter writes with her inner child’s soul right out in front for everyone to see. If you’re smart - you’ll hold onto that.
— -Amos Brigly
I want to be written down on paper like Winter writes her characters. Unapologetic. Real. She does them proud.
— Gloria de Saint

About Winter >

Inspired by her son , a survivor of shaken baby syndrome who lives with hydrocephalus , Winter wrote Bold and Blooming as a celebration of resilience, love, and the unshakable bonds of family. Watching his wonder for wildflowers and the sky, and his strength in overcoming challenges, shaped the heart of this story and its message: every child’s growth is worth celebrating. Through his journey, Winter hopes to spark awareness for “hydro warrior” kids while reminding readers of the confidence children find when they are deeply supported.

Bold and Blooming is illustrated by the incredibly talented, Skylar Hogan(HarperCollins, Little Bee Books/Simon & Schuster, Macmillan/Roaring Brook Press). While this first book explores a garden of wildflowers with a mother and child, Winter’s companion story(2026) invites readers on a sparkling outer space adventure with Dad.

INTRODUCING…

“The day I realized I could really truly write my characters down, I sat down and 20,000 words later, I got up. I felt like I could fly. I’ve been flying ever since.”
